Your Mac can do more than you think
Kirk McElhearn recently published a new book worth reading:
The Mac OS X Command Line: Unix Under the Hood. It's a step-by-step journey through the great things you can make your Mac do from the Unix command line (i.e., the Terminal). In addition to a great tutorial for those with no Unix experience, it also includes tricks and tips for seasoned shell users.
You can download and read a sample chapter from the book before you buy. A quick look shows me that experienced Unix people may get a little bored, but there are still Mac OS X-specific tidbits that can come in handy. for example, the sample chapter talks about how to strip thumbnails off of image files to reduce their size before e-mailing them to others.
